Please Note:
We have no relation to Retrofoam whatsoever, we have never used it and never endorsed it.
Fiberglass- been used to insulate homes and business since the 1930's. Still an excellent product at an affordable price. Comes in:
Bat- Excellent for new home or tear out situations
Blankets- great for crawl space and basements.
Lose fill- blown in for attics.
Limitations are it cannot be blown into existing cavity walls
Cellulose- been used widely since the 1970's. It can be blown into existing open cavities to give about 3.8 R value per inch. Typically that means you will get an R value of about 13.
Limitations are that it is difficult to fill an existing cavity through a smaller hole (between bricks)
For this reason we only recommend it for inside application through drywall or plaster. We completely repair the hole but do not paint.
AirKrete- An absolutely safe and non-toxic cement based, non-expanding foam that can be injected into your wall cavities from the outside. We simply drill 1/2"-5/8" holes into your mortar (between bricks) and fill the cavities, we then professionally repair the mortar leaving you a near perfect looking condition. This product has an R value of 3.9 per inch which typically gives you an over all R value of 13.5.
Limitations are that it must be installed in warmer weather because the foam must set up. Min. 40 deg. F.
Spray Foam- an incredible product widely seen on the home renovation channel. Has an R value of R-6 per inch. Perfect for crawl space applications or new wall construction.
